Open Rate Index

What your rate is worth.

Freelance rates in energy, offshore, marine and engineering — by discipline, seniority, setting and region, worldwide. Submitted anonymously by professionals. A band appears only once enough independent rates are in.

Rate bands, € per hour.

No bands published yet

The index opens with the first bands once enough rates are in.

A band is published only when at least ten independent professionals have submitted a rate for the same discipline, seniority, setting and region. Until then nothing is shown - a number built on three submissions would be worse than no number at all. Nothing you enter is stored against your name, and no count is ever published.

Your rate is

A day rate is converted to an hourly rate with an 8-hour day.

What you receive, not what the client pays. €20 to €400 per hour; outside that range nothing is stored.

No name, no e-mail, no free text. One rate per selection per 90 days.

How the index works.

The rule

A band appears only once enough independent rates are in for that selection. Until then the bar stays empty. If a selection is too thin, the index shows a coarser one that does meet the rule: first without the setting, then across all regions, then across all seniorities — and says so.

A band is the middle half of submitted rates with the median, rounded to €5. No lowest or highest rate is shown.

What we store

Your rate, converted to euros per hour, and the choices from the form: discipline, seniority, setting, region, hour or day rate, and the experience range if you gave one. The date. A one-way hash that stops the same connection from counting twice for one selection; it is deleted after 90 days.

What we never store

No name. No e-mail address. No IP address. No free text. If you are logged in as a registered professional, the rate is marked as coming from a verified professional — not from which one.

Checks

Rates outside €20–€400 per hour are refused. Extreme values stop influencing a band once it has enough rates. A band that disagrees with the rates of verified professionals is held back until a person has looked at it. Nothing is seeded: a band exists only because professionals submitted rates.
